As part of National Novel Writing Month, I decided to write the third and final installment of the Maeve Kenny series. The story picks up a few years after A Sudden Gift of Fate ends. It was great to spend another month at Keuka Lake (in my imagination, that is—drat!) writing about the further adventures of Fergal, Brídgeen, Maeve & Andy.
I just finished the first draft. My process is to walk away from the book for a few months now and work on other editing before I go back to it. There are some great new plot lines and more than a couple twists. Can’t wait to get this ready for my readers.

In this loose parody of Dante’s Inferno, four Irish traditional musicians get lost in the backwoods of upstate New York the week before St. Patrick’s Day. On the journey, the band descends through nine hellish circles of American-style 3/17 revelry: Step-dancing princesses. Bobbing shamrock headbangers. Green beer bacchanals. Shillelagh-wavin’ geezers. (WARNING: Abandon hope, all ye corned beef-allergic who enter here.)
This novel also has a list price of $20 and will be available at all of the same outlets as my first two.

On Tuesday, Sept. 21, I’ll be participating in my first “-palooza” event.
Barnes & Noble in the Town Square Mall, Vestal, N.Y., is hosting a local authors event called “Authorpalooza” that evening at 6:30. About 15 authors will be sitting at café tables around the bookstore selling and signing their books. (Books are bought at B&N checkout.) It should be a fun event with special drawings for guests.
I think my new novel, 317, will be published by then. I’ll let you know.

(a thousand thanks to) the Wiltberger family, Judy, Len, Mark & Jeanne, for the wonderful hospitality they showed me last weekend during the book signing at their winery, Keuka Springs Vineyards.
It was a soft day, in the rainy Irish sense, so the numbers of visitors were lower than expected but I was delighted that my books were purchased and heading off to new locations.
If you ever go to Keuka Lake for winery tours, you must put Keuka Spring on your agenda. The team running the tastings are fun and laid back, yet knowledgeable. The Wiltbergers have a superb gift shop where you can buy locavore cheeses and other treats as well as their wines, delightful accessories and logo clothing.
When you go, be sure to pack a picnic lunch so you can sit out on the deck to savor the glorious view, sunshine and cool breezes rushing down the vineyards as you sip one of their great wines.
P.S. Keuka Spring is celebrating its 25th year! On Aug. 15 they are having a 25th Anniversary Celebration complete with a pig roast, games on the lawn and live music. Make your reservation by Aug. 9 to attend. Tickets are $20.
A note to my readers who have enjoyed The Cyber Miracles and A Sudden Gift of Fate: I am now framing the story for the third book in this series. Yes, more of Maeve, Andy, Fergal and Brídgeen. And maybe some characters you don’t like will return to stir things up. Expect this novel late in 2011 or early 2012.
In the meantime, I plan to release my third novel, 317, sometime this summer in e format first (Kindle, Nook, iPad, iPhone, etc.) While it has Irish themes, it will be different from the Maeve Kenny Series. In 2011, look for my fourth novel, The Terminal Diner, to be released in paperback. Again, this book (influenced by my experiences on 9/11) will be much different from my first two novels. It has some characters that I think will tug at your heart as strongly as the ones in these first two books.
