Liam Clancy

Saddened to hear about the passing of Liam Clancy, the last surviving Clancy brother. The Clancy Brothers, along with Tommy Makem, introduced most Irish Americans to real Irish music, not what we’d been raised on from Tin Pan Alley tunes.
Liam was a superb singer, more on the line of a seánchaí. He and his brothers had quite an impact on my brother and I as performers.  Also, the first words in Gaeilge I ever heard were at a Clancys concert.  It is, sadly, the end of an era for Irish folk music. RIP Liam. Ar dheis Dé go raibh do h-anam.
